We just love gelato!

Fabio’s Gelato is a family-run dessert parlour dedicated to making great gelato the right way.

All of our gelato is produced locally using specialist gelato machines, with locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Since we started, we’ve created over 500 ever-changing flavours of gelato, sorbets, and vegan gelato — from timeless classics to bold seasonal creations.

Owners Fabio and Hannah fell in love with gelato after a family holiday to Rome. Inspired by the craft, quality, and simplicity of authentic Italian gelato, they decided to turn that passion into something more. In 2013, Fabio & Hannah attended a specialist gelato course at Reading University, and with a clear vision, professional guidance, and a lot of hard work, Fabio’s Gelato was born.

So what exactly is Gelato?

Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, but the difference is in how it’s made.

 

Gelato uses a higher proportion of milk and less cream than traditional ice cream, with little or no egg. It’s churned at a much slower speed, which incorporates less air and creates a denser, smoother texture.

 

Because gelato is served at a slightly warmer temperature, it remains silkier and softer on the palate. With a lower fat content (around 5% compared to roughly 10% in standard ice cream), the true flavour of the ingredients really shines through — exactly as it should.
